Korea is no doubt one of the undisputed points of reference in Asia in terms of hairstyles for Asian women. There are several reasons why Korea is right now the place most Asian women look up to when they look for inspiration for their hairstyles, makeup and fashion, but we will not expand on this topic as long as this is not the purpose of this article.
We are going to focus on the main hair trends from Korea for the Winter 2010 2011 season, and to do this we have interviewed Tatyana Kapitonov, top stylist at Park Juns, one of the best known hair salons in Seoul, Korea.

We asked about the current hair trends, and some advice about hairstyles for both younger and older Asian women. This is what she told us.
Could you tell us something about the latest hair trends from Korea? What is 'in' and what is 'out' for the winter 2010 2011 season?
I'm seeing a lot of fringes, heavy and bold. Also color is in. I think in Korea they either all color or all don't. Now there are lots of beautiful browns and reds, but they still stay within their natural color palette. Waves and natural styles, long. I'm seeing many young men cutting their hair short and tailored, which is a change for Asian men. Who is the 'style icon' in Korea right now? Who has the most 'copied' hair style?
TV Dramas influence the styles here, so what ever the latest drama is on all guys and girls go for their styles, unfortunately I don't understand Korean and I am not able to watch the shows. What is the most requested hairstyle by Korean girls at Parkjun Hair Salons right now?

Your personal suggestion for an original hair style for a young Asian woman, and for a woman who is a bit older?
I'd love to see a young Asian woman with bold color and maybe a few hi-lights with a cut that accentuates her features instead of hiding it. Go shorter and more graphic.
For a bit older woman it would be nice to see chin length or a bit longer length and also a nice shade of brown/red

Hair should be washed every other day. We have natural oil that protects the scalp and hair and washing the hair too often and with unprofessional shampoos strips that oil and causes dryness and damage.
Of course it all depends on the texture and the condition of the hair. Wavy hair shouldn't be washed as often as straight and finer textured hair.
