Matrons pay visits to housebound

People living in a part of Nottinghamshire who suffer from long-term health conditions could soon benefit from extra care. Five new community matrons have been appointed to treat patients in their homes in the Newark area.
They will help people who suffer from conditions such as arthritis and diabetes and who need treatment to prevent their condition worsening.
Newark and Sherwood NHS Trust said the staff will support the current service.
Gill Godwin, team leader, said: "The community matron's role is to go in and look at what the health problems are, look at ways of managing them better and look at how we can support people.
"This is so they can remain healty at home and avoid hospital admissions if possible.
"We will also be looking at things that trigger off exacerbations of the condition."
